Landscape Paintings by former Gallery owner Debbie Scott
Artist | Debbie Scott
I am the former owner of the Gallery and I am delighted to say that Daisy Courtauld who has worked with me in the Gallery for many years, has now taken over the reigns, leaving me more time to paint and travel!.
As an artist I am self-taught, but have benefited enormously from the encouragement and advice of my Dad, Peter Rowland, a professional artist.
My paintings are predominantly landscapes influenced by the surrounding countryside and a love of the East Anglian coastline. For me the starting point always comes from the immediate landscape and a desire to translate this onto paper as quickly as possible to capture the seasonal mood, and because if I'm honest, I'm also an impatient artist.
I try to bring a sense of place to my paintings without being overly specific as my work is ‘representational’ or ‘semi abstract’, my impression of the landscape around me. Ultimately my aim is to paint pure atmosphere in my finished piece.
